While there are some people who enjoy the process of cleaning the house, there are certain chores that are pretty low on everyone’s list. Below are 4 dreaded chores and how to make them easier to deal with.
If you have a self-cleaning oven, you’ve got half the battle won. Unfortunately the only way to keep that oven clean is by cleaning it often. Grease and food will build up on the walls of the oven. The longer you put off cleaning it, the worse the chore will become.
2. Stove Tops
Grease spills, food that has splattered and water that has boiled over all contribute to a messy stove top. Once again, your best defense is to clean often. Whenever you give your counters a good cleaning, take a scouring pad and a small amount of cleanser to the stove. Make sure to rinse thoroughly.
Microwaves get messy quickly because of food that can splatter inside. One way to avoid such a mess is to put a piece of paper towel on top of the food to minimize splatters while cooking your food. If you are looking for a quick way to clean out the microwave without chemicals, get a microwave safe mug full of water and microwave it for 2 minutes. Let the cup sit in the microwave for an additional minute after the initial 2 minutes of cooking time. When you take out the mug, use paper towel to wipe the inside of the microwave. There should be no scrubbing involved. The sides of the microwave should wipe clean as soon as you put the towel to the walls.
4. Window Blinds
Household blinds can build up dust easily. If you have a window open attracting dust or blinds in the kitchen that gather grease, your window treatment will become dirtier even quicker. The best remedy is to wipe the window blinds weekly with a soft cloth. Once a month, take a cleanser that is safe for the type of blinds you own and wipe them down to help slow down the accumulation of dust and grime that will build up.
